Garden Ponds
The best of what nature has to offer

Are you interested in garden ponds?
A Pond is a wonderful addition to your landscape!
A three tier waterfall with aquatic plants and proper landscaping are the ingredients for a great pond!

Change your life with the magic of a beautiful, relaxing, stress-relieving pond.

A pond is your own backyard oasis, a peaceful place for you to entertain or just sit and enjoy by yourself and take in all that you have created!

The first time that you hear the water flowing over the falls that you have created will bring you much joy.

You just may find extra time in your life to just unwind from all the unwanted stress that others place upon you by just sitting by your pond.

A pond is a great addition to any home, and a great hobby with many benefits. However, all of this comes at a price. Aside from the initial startup costs which will be determined by size and design, there will be the maintenance.

As far as design is concerned, you are limited only by your imagination. Additions to the pond can include a waterfall, a bridge, a fountain, a swimming pond, a pergola, a garden bench or anything else that will enhance your landscape. All intended to invite nature back into your life.

We provide information on Koi fish ponds, gold fish ponds, wildlife ponds, garden ponds, swimming ponds, pondless waterfalls, and babbling brooks, Like we have mentioned, you are limited only by your imagination and resources.

Ecology of a garden pond

Consider the ecological benefit of owning a garden pond, especially if you incorporate a small wetland area at one end of your pond. If you already own a piece of property with an area that tends to be wetter than the rest of the yard after rainstorms, you have a natural beginning on the development of a wetland. If this area is near where you desire to have a pond, so much the better.

We will discuss the wetlands only as they apply to a garden pond for there are several other applications regarding establishing a wetland. Granted, if you do allow a wetland to develop, a natural filtering process will take place as the water flows into the pond from your roof and lawn. Be aware that this will also filter out any chlorine from your town or city water used to fill the pond.

Ecologically balanced ponds are natural ponds and are becoming increasingly more popular because they do not require the maintenance that the "older systems" required.

The older ponds were often set in some kind of container system without a waterfall or "spout", inviting algae and other bacteria to enter and thrive in the pond. This type of pond required a lot of chemicals to stabilize and "balance" but the end result was not a natural pond.

If you are looking to establish such a pond, use a biological filter to utilize the beneficial bacteria to break down waste and a mechanical filter to the surface of debris. If you keep fish, the algae will be naturally controlled. Cultivating plants will further control the algae growth.
