We would like to tell you a bit about us. My name is David and garden ponds are just a hobby for me, not a commercial entity. We have several small ponds located on our properties in Upstate New York. We enjoy ponds and all of nature that is drawn to them.

We have a very tall hedgerow on one side of one pond with a split rail fence alongside. The birds line up on this fence waiting their turn to take a dip in the small pool of water just before waterfall. They really like the waterfall and it is common to see 5 or 8 birds bathing at the edge of the waterfall.

We also have a small pond with a smaller "upper pond" and waterfall, created from pre-formed ponds, with split rail fencing, deciduous trees and plenty of nature about us.

These words have come true for us. We enjoy this hobby of ponding!

My life has been spent in construction, a very hard life. Construction has not been a wealth building opportunity for us but let's be clear on this (I am not broke either). Now I am entering my late fifties and I know that I won't be able to be in a boom lift 2 or 3 stories in the air when it's 10 degrees below zero outside.

Knowing that I will have to leave this life behind me, I started to look for and think of other opportunities. I didn't want to start all over again with a new career or work in a lower paying job that I would probably hate even worse. What I really want is to retire a little early and enjoy what time I have left to live. This may sound very familiar and you may be saying to yourself the same thing.

I have decided to retire a little early in life at the age of fifty nine. This will give me a few years to develop a passive income to pay the day to day expenses after I retire. So the search was on for that passive income, but it had to be some thing that I really would enjoy.

That's when we found SBI.

And like David, garden ponds are just a hobby for me too, not a commercial entity. I really enjoy the ponds that David and I created virtually from materials that he already had. We have spent very little except in terms of "sweat equity" to build the ponds and container ponds at our residences. All it takes is a little imagination and a lot of work, and it really is about us.

My life has been quite different from that of David's. I have worked in an office for almost 30 years and am ready to retire from work.

I believe that no matter what type of work one does, it is still a lot of work to do it right, to be there every day, and give 100% + every day.

For this reason, I, too believe that working on a website about something that is a hobby for me is a very worthwhile venture. SBI has given me the tools to help write most of the text that you will read on any given page of Your Garden Ponds Center. It's sole purpose started out as an informational venture and is a place to get information on every aspect of owning a garden pond. This website may also be a great way to supplement our retirement income, but for a work-at-home parent, or anyone looking to change careers, the benefits are also obvious.

The website is still growing, just as every small business must continue to grow. As a small business, we are considered "infopreneurs", providing as much information as is possible and making a few dollars from affiliate programs. We are not "tech-no geeks" by any standard, but SBI has provided the tools and the community support so necessary to set up a successful website.

This brings about us to the last point. We are not wealthy, we do not have large incomes, large yards, or any of the other trappings that go with wealth. What we do have is the desire to help anyone who wants something special to dress up the yard and garden. What we have learned about us is that it does not have to be the best, whatever that means, but if it is of your own creation, it is the best.
